Yasmine Chubin is an international legal consultant with over ten years of international criminal law, transitional justice, and rule of law experience. She currently serves as the Sexual and Gender Based Violence investigations expert with the Syria Justice and Accountability Centre, the lead expert for the International Development Law Organisation’s (IDLO) ICL Training Program for the Rwandan Judiciary, a Senior Legal Consultant for IDLO’s Mali rule of law program, and consults for the International Commission of Jurists’ Project on Combating Impunity for International Crimes in Tunisia and Achieving Justice for Gross Human Rights Violations. In 2018, she was appointed as a UN expert in prosecutions and investigations for the Special Criminal Court (SCC) in the Central African Republic where she advised on the SCC’s prosecutorial and investigative strategy and on case selection and prioritisation for initial investigations. She previously served as a Trial Lawyer in the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court and the UN International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, and as a Legal Officer to the International Co-Investigating Judge of the Khmer Rouge Tribunal. She was previously the Senior Legal Adviser to the Prosecutor-General of Rwanda, advising on transfer and extradition cases, the lead expert for IDLO’s ICL Training Program for the Rwanda Bar Association, and an associate at Shearman & Sterling LLP. She is admitted to the New York bar and is fluent in English, French, and Farsi.
