Together at RightsCon Tunis, our first summit hosted in the Middle East and North Africa, more than 2500 expert practitioners will come together across over 400 sessions to shape, contribute to, and drive forward the global agenda for the future of our human rights.

Varoon Bashyakarla is a data scientist at the Tactical Technology Collective, a Berlin-based NGO that works globally at the intersection of civil society and technology. For the past two years, he has been studying how personal data is becoming a political asset, influencing elections and referenda. His team has partnered with researchers and journalists in over a dozen countries in the process. Previously, he worked as a data scientist at Wealthfront, where he managed experiments across the company, and at Dropbox, where he helped preempt cyberattacks and supported the launch of a new office. He was a Fellow of the inaugural Eric and Wendy Schmidt Data Sciences for Social Good Fellowship and of the 2018 Transatlantic Digital Debates Fellowship. He received his bachelor's degree in statistics and economics from Yale University and studied abroad at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
