Dr. Rasha Abdulla is Professor of Journalism and Mass Communication at the American University in Cairo. She has a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. She is the recipient of several teaching and research awards, including the AUC Excellence in Research Award for her research on social media and political activism leading to and during Egypt’s revolution. Dr. Abdulla's research interests include the uses and effects of new media, social media and political activism, and public service broadcasting. She is the author of eight books and monographs, and numerous research articles, reports, and book chapters. Dr. Abdulla is a former member of the Multistakeholder Advisory Group of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF MAG). She tweets regularly at @RashaAbdulla.
