Together at RightsCon Tunis, our first summit hosted in the Middle East and North Africa, more than 2500 expert practitioners will come together across over 400 sessions to shape, contribute to, and drive forward the global agenda for the future of our human rights.

Alejandro Mayoral Banos is a Mixtec/Totonac activist and the Executive Director of the Indigenous Friends Association based in Tkaronto, Canada. Alejandro has a Ph.D. in Communication & Culture from York University/Ryerson University, where he specialized in the intersections between Indigeneity, decolonization and digital technologies. Alejandro believes that incorporating Indigenous ways of knowing and doing into the design of digital technologies can create safer and better virtual spaces. Alejandro serves on several boards in Canada and Mexico, linking education initiatives to the self-determination of Indigenous peoples. In his free time, Alejandro loves hiking, working out, coding and being surrounded by friends and family.
