Together at RightsCon Tunis, our first summit hosted in the Middle East and North Africa, more than 2500 expert practitioners will come together across over 400 sessions to shape, contribute to, and drive forward the global agenda for the future of our human rights.

Margaret (Meg) Satterthwaite is Professor of Clinical Law at NYU School of Law, where she is Faculty Director of the Bernstein Institute for Human Rights and the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice . She directs the Global Justice Clinic, which endeavors to carry out its work in a rights-based manner that empowers marginalized populations to know and exercise their rights, and that uses methods from across a variety of disciplines. The Clinic’s docket includes cases and projects concerning surveillance of human rights defenders, the human rights impacts of gold mining, the rights to water and sanitation, and the human rights of those impacted by counter-terrorism policies. Satterthwaite’s scholarship focuses on these issues, as well as examining the role of data in human rights advocacy. She has conducted human rights work in a variety of countries, including Haiti, Guyana, Nigeria, Northern Ireland, the United States, and Yemen. Satterthwaite has served on numerous boards as a member or advisor to organizations including Amnesty International USA, Digital Democracy, the Global Initiative for Economic and Social Rights, and the International Justice Resource Center. She has served as a consultant or advisor to various U.N. agencies including the Special Rapporteur on the Right to Water and Sanitation, the Special Rapporteur on Human Rights and Counter-Terrorism, UNDP, UN Women, and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. She is a co-mother to twin sons and lives with her family in Manhattan.
