Logan Smith

Progress North Carolina
Communications Director
Raleigh, NC
Logan Smith runs the popular Twitter account @YesYoureRacist, which has grown from a lighthearted way to poke fun at people who say “I’m not racist but…” when it was created in 2012, to a major online presence in today’s fight against hate speech. In 2017, Logan was instrumental in identifying several of the white supremacists who participated in the Charlottesville riots, which received international news coverage and has been called a turning point in the fight against the so-called “alt-right.” By day, Logan is the communications director for Progress NC Action, a progressive nonprofit in Raleigh, North Carolina working to turn back the extremist right-wing agenda in state politics. In 2016, he helped lead the fight against the notorious anti-LGBT law known as House Bill 2, organizing weekly air horn protests outside the governor’s mansion for nearly six months.
