Tunis +13¾: From the Tunis Agenda to RightsCon Tunis, it’s been a lifetime of internet governance

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Where has internet governance been and where is it headed? Meet some of the elders of the internet as we unpack the history of the Tunis Agenda from 13¾ years ago - and what that means today as we convene again in Tunis at RightsCon 2019. Learn about the current governance debate and its history from the people who helped draft one of its founding documents.

The World Summit on the Information Society convened in Tunis back in 2005 (13+13¾ years ago) and launched the Tunis Agenda. We will reflect on what happened during Tunis back in 2005, focus on what was achieved – including the establishment of the IGF itself (Article 72!) - and what has not yet happened – for example, the Digital Solidarity Fund (Article 28) - Together, we will engage in and think through how to keep the Tunis Agenda alive and thriving for another 13¾ years. Join us for this historically important reconvening as we grapple with the realities and challenges of today's digital world.
