Making Tech Digestible: Adventures of digital security trainers in Sub-Saharan Africa

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

You can expect to hear personal accounts of what it is like to train on digital security in areas where knowledge and use of tech is just starting to take hold. We will talk about online gender based violence as it appears in sub-sahran Africa plus accounts of the victims of these crimes. There will be a presentation of 'an easy to read' digital security guide developed for women in Subsaharan Africa under the Safe Sister mentorship program. This will be followed by a presentation of the accompanying training resource guide designed to facilitate new or beginner level trainers of digital security from the same region. We will discuss the insights and challenges we faced in the development of the two resources like creating culturally appropriate analogies among other things!
