The Ranking Digital Rights 2019 Corporate Accountability Index: Which companies have improved their respect for your rights?

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Which companies improved their respect for your freedom of expression and privacy in the past year, and how? How much of an impact has Europe’s new privacy regulation made on companies’ disclosures and policies about how they handle user information around the world? Which companies’ boards and top executives exercise clear and systematic oversight over potential human rights harms to users? The past year has been full of headlines about data breaches, commercial abuse of user information, propaganda, and misinformation campaigns. With the results of the Ranking Digital Rights 2019 Corporate Accountability Index freshly released in late May, this session will serve as a progress report on which companies have made the greatest effort to improve their respect for users’ rights in the past year, and in what ways. RDR Director Rebecca MacKinnon will be joined by a panel of experts who will offer reactions to the latest Index findings, insights about recent trends around the world, as well as strategies for getting companies to build respect for human rights into their policies and practices.
