How Smaller and Less Resourced Media Outlets Can Unlock the Value of Analytic Activities Without Triggering a Privacy Backlash

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Over 100 countries now have data protection laws and regulations, and more are being drafted, particularly in emerging economies that wish to maintain data flows with the European Union. These laws, directives, and regulations have the potential to significantly curtail the analytic activities of the news media and bloggers, and in particular, smaller news outlets who lack the strong legal muscle of corporate conglomerates. This session will explore the impact of data protection laws and regulations on the media, and why, if you care about values such as the right to privacy and freedom of expression, you should care.
