Intelligent Tool for Arabic Fake News Detection (The Arabic Explorer) / (أداة ذكية للكشف عن الأخبار الكاذبة باللغة العربية (المستكشف العربي (EAST Team - Experts for Arabic Semantic Technologies Team - Palestine)

The main goal of this session is to discuss in three parts the development and the findings of this initiative and solicit through the discussion more input from the community. First: Share the design concept of Arabic Fake News Detection tools, then showing EAST-Team efforts and development of this initiative. Second: Demonstrate what East Team has build 1. Exhibiting the (Website) for Arabic-English Fake-News Detection. 2. Listing searchable blog posts of more than 10,000 Arabic fake news. 3. Publishing (Fake-News & Social-Networks Book) in both Arabic & English. 4. Showing our dataset for detecting Arabic fake news 5. Publishing free Arabic Fake News Black Lists (Social-Pages, Accounts, Websites and users). 6. Building an Intelligent tool for Fake News Detection (The Arabic Explorer). Third: The services provided by the Arabic-English Fake-News Detection (Website) 1. Showing statistics and findings from analyzing the Arabic fake news posts from 2014 to 2019. 2. Testing by validating of news text against authentic sources in Arabic. 3. Sharing the the development of Arabic graph database algorithms and pattern recognition using AI. 5. Disseminating of information in Arabic-English related to Arabic Fake News through through social media and advertising on the availability of online Fake news book.

الهدف الرئيسي من هذا العرض مناقشة ثلاث مواضيع حول تطوير (المستكشف العربي ) وما خلصت له المبادرة من نتائج حول واقع الاخبار الكاذبة ، ومحاولة الحصول على تغذية راجعة من المشاركين لتطوير العمل الحالي وزيادة الدقة. أولا: مناقشة التصميم والخوارزمية لتطوير (المستكشف العربي) ووسائل التحقق من الاخبار الكاذبة باللغة العربية وما توصل له فريق الشرق من نتائج ومجهودات في هذا المجال. ثانيا: عرض ما قام (فريق الشرق) بتطويره. 1. تطوير موقع متميز باللغتين عربي-انجليزي للمبادرة، للكشف عن الاخبار الكاذبة. 2. عرض مدونة بالأخبار الكاذبة التي تم حصرها (قابل للبحث السريع) حوالي (10,000) خبر كاذب. 3. نشر كتاب (الاخبار الكاذبة والشبكات الاجتماعية) ، وطرحه بشكل مجاني . 4. عرض البيانات الأولية المستخدمة للكشف عن الاخبار الكاذبة خلال المبادرة. 5. عرض القوائم السوداء (المستخدمين، المواقع، المجالات، المواقع ، الشبكات الاجتماعية) ذات العلاقة. 6. بناء وتطوير (المستكشف العربي) محرك بحث ذكي للكشف عن الاخبار الكاذبة باللغة العربية. ثالثا: الخدمات التي سوف يقدمها موقع (المستكشف العربي): 1. عرض مؤشرات متنوعة وتحليلات حول الاخبار الكاذبة خلال الأعوام 2014-2019. 2. التحقق من الاخبار الكاذبة من خلال مقارنتها بأخبار تم التحقق منها سابقة والخروج بتقييم لها. 3. المشاركة في تطوير الخوارزمية والتعرف على الأنماط والتمييز الالي الذكي للأخبار الكاذبة. 4. نشر المعرفة باللغة العربية والانجليزية حول المواضيع ذات العلاقة بالخبار الكاذبة من خلال الشبكات الاجتماعية والتسويق حول الكتاب المجاني للأخبار الكاذبة المتاح للجميع.

Collaborative verification of digital content with Truly Media (Deutsche Welle)

Speakers: Jochen Spangenberg and Nikos Sarris   

The goals of the session are: 1) to introduce and showcase a platform for collaborative verification of digital content: Truly Media. Truly Media has been co-developed in a public-private partnership by Deutsche Welle, Germany's public service international media organisation, and Athens Technology Center, an Athens / Greece-based software development and service provision company; 2) to highlight and demo features of the platform - and do so live; 3) to showcase how technology can support in countering mis/disinformation, and support in the debunking process; 4) discuss pros and cons of the platform and the solution shown, primarily to obtain feedback from session participants, to obtain the view of the human rights community and others involved in digital content verification; 5) raise further awareness on the topic of dealing with / countering mis/disinformation, especially content circulating on social networks - and the role of technology in the context.

Check and Keep: Advanced Verification and Archival Tools for Journalists and Researchers (Meedan)

Check combines smart checklists, workflow integrations, and intuitive design to make digital newsgathering an efficient and collaborative process. Invite your team and online community in a secure environment to work together to validate breaking news content. Then, quickly show the work to your audience on social media or your news site. Check is used in many fact-checking and verification election-related around the world, we hope to share best practices for newsrooms to verify content on private messaging apps. Keep, a tool developed by RightsLab and Meedan, supports smart, powerful archiving of online videos and images. Keep is designed to work seamlessly with Check, our platform for collaborative newsgathering and verification.
