As a technology specific Lawyer and 2018 youth Internet Governance Forum fellow, Daniel Bill Opio, a youth lead with the Internet Society Chapter Uganda and a graduate of the Makerere University School of Law in Kampala-Uganda is; the Executive Director, founder and vision bearer of Kampala based Cyber Law Initiative (CyberLine), a non-profit organization viewing technology through a legal lens.
Being an emerging thought digital leader, he conducts specialized youth centered digital projects and guides multiple discussions shaping the digital economy legal framework in East Africa such as at the Annual Conference on Digital security in Uganda hosted by the Uganda Digital Security Alliance with special focus on data protection and privacy and at the 2018 African Blockchain Conference held in Uganda with special focus on preferred policy and regulation of the blockchain technology industry.
While setting the paradigm shift in legal-tech practice, Daniel is a sought after digital trainer and speaker on emerging technologies having featured as panelist on the 2019 Going Digital Summit by OECD and 2019 Austria-Vienna E-Media & Diplomacy Ambassador Milton Wolf Seminar. Daniel has served as guest lecturer at Makerere University Artificial Intelligence and currently undertakes AI Governance and Policy classes with DIPLO Foundation.
